St George & Sutherland Community College Murals

A colourful series all about connection, community and belonging.

I was commissioned by St George & Sutherland Community College (SGSCC) to create three murals across their Jannali campus, with each artwork celebrating the people, values and sense of community that make up SGSCC.

Across the three murals, the concept was centred around connection and bringing people together. Interconnected hands represent support, learning and community, while hearts, puzzle pieces and other playful elements symbolise all the different individuals coming together to create something bigger.

Colour was a really important part of the project. A bold spectrum flows throughout the artworks to represent the different ages, cultures, abilities and backgrounds within the SGSCC community, tying the three murals together while still allowing each one to have its own personality.

Painted directly onto the existing brick walls, the murals transformed everyday parts of the campus into colourful moments that help tell the SGSCC story.

I loved that these artworks could be bright and playful while still having so much meaning behind them. Three different murals connected by one colourful celebration of the people who learn, work and come together at SGSCC.
